During September 2007 we decided the time was right for a family pet and we spent several weeks in September researching various dog breeds and after much discussion we decided on the Chow Chow. I had never actually seen a Chow but Steve had the privilege of meeting a Chow during his childhood. We researched the breed and decided that the nature/personality of the Chow suited our family life perfectly and we have been hooked ever since. I overheard a fellow lover/owner of Chows inform an onlooker at a show "Chows are like tattoo's, one is never enough - they are an addiction."
We contacted several breeders over quite a few months, and was lucky enough to find Akakuro and Carolyn. One of Carolyn's girls (Liang) had recently had a litter, but Carolyn had already decided on keeping Morgana for herself. After a thorough interview Carolyn decided to allow us to have Morgana (for which we shall always be grateful), and we haven't looked back since.
MORGANA's first show was the SWKA championship show at Usk, where she was placed third and this qualified her for CRUFTS. At the time we had no idea how the shows worked and as you can imagine were ecstatic if not a little over-whelmed. MORGANA went on to receive first place in her class at CRUFTS 2009.
We decided to breed MORGANA with Kadhir at Akakuro and was most successful. MORGANA had 5 beautiful, healthy puppies (3x girls and 2x boys). We decided we would keep one puppy. However, when the pups were born we wanted to keep all of them! Eventually, we decided we would keep two - one boy and one girl. Steve had decided on TAKASHI and now it was down to me - the blue or the black girl? It was such a difficult decision as I did want both! Eventually, I decided on KATSUMI (blue) and Carolyn now has KIYOMI (black).
